Fact #1.

Will be the one that many people probably wouldn't want to hear. And it is: “Belly fat is dangerous”. In fact, it is the most dangerous type of fat in our body. And I am not talking about the fat that you can pinch on your waist line, but about the one that is inside wrapped around the organs. If you carry your weight in your midsection you are most likely to have this type of fat, and it does reek havoc on your health.

The reason is that it does not just sit there, it is a biologically active tissue taking part in the inflammation and hormones production. Because of this activity it can increase your risk of breast cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

So it's much more dangerous than when you carry your weight in thighs or hips. When this type of fat breaks down it is excreted from the body through the liver making it produce bad cholesterol. The only thing good about this fat is that it is easy to loose. When you start dieting or intensively exercising it goes away first, quickly and rapidly.

Fact 2.  “Eating fat will not make you fat”.

Instead, calories will do so. I am talking about healthy fats like different vegetable oils (olive, corn) and mono unsaturated fats. When you consume health fats you can actually loose weight, because fat makes you feel more satiated, it keeps fuller and longer feeling satisfied.

It is very important to have proper sources of fat in your diet like olives, avocados, almonds, some types of red meat, etc. They can help you lower your risk of developing heart disease and stroke, normalize blood clotting.

Also, they are beneficial for the blood sugar and insulin levels, which is crucial for diabetics. These fat must be incorporated into healthy diet. The fats that should be avoided are trans and saturated fats.

Fact 3. “One pound of body fat is equivalent to 3,500 calories”.

To burn such amount and loose whole pound of weight means a lot of work. It equals walking briskly for 9 hours, or running 33 miles. As famous saying goes 'A moment on the lips, a life-time on the hips'.

For instance, if you just take 1750 calories a day, which is an equivalent of two ounces of chocolate (not really that much), you will gain one pound every twenty days. In case you consume 3500 calories a day, which is a milkshake calorie-wise, you'll put on 1 pound every 10 days.

Fact 4. “Cholesterol helps your body digest fat”.

Humans actually need cholesterol to properly function. It performs many essential roles in our body. It participates in producing Vitamin D, it helps synthesizing several hormones as estrogen and testosterone, it is used in the building of cell walls, and it helps you produce biosols that play important role in fats digestion.

When our body makes too much bad cholesterol, it starts depositing at the walls of blood vessels. Then the arteries get rigid and narrow down, which then deprives many organs of proper blood flow. Brain and heart are first to suffer.

Fact 5. 'Loosing at least 5% of your body weight is beneficial for your health”

According to many scientific studies, loosing any amount of fat, even as low as 5% of your weight will make you healthier.
