I have recently read a very cool book, "Tango therapy".

The Best legal antidepressants

Now i know, that tango can be an effective way of treating such serious diseases as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. It confirms the study by the University of Washington (USA), which was attended by two groups of people suffering from Parkinson's disease or paralysis agitans. First group of patients regularly attended tango lessons and the second did the exercises with chairs. It was discovered that the first group of patients significantly improved overall health, so did the coordination of movements.

Aristotle regarded the phenomenon of dance as a bodily reaction to the emotional state and therefore an indicator of its mental health. He attributed the dance, along with speech and music to the primary (initial) expressive means of human expression when the instrument is the body.

Dancing is not only contributed to a more active patients life, but also force them to exercise the brain, because they need to remember the movements. Nowadays, tango therapy is widely used in several hospitals of the European countries and attracts more and more interest. I guess, it works vice versa as well: people, dancing the tango are much less likely to get depressed or get ill with schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's.
